Back Lane Dublin
Dublin Through the Ages Tours (DTTA) was born from a lifelong passion for history, storytelling, and the vibrant soul of Dublin itself.
Founded by a local Dubliner, Joe Cooke, a Fáilte Ireland approved tour guide, DTTA offers immersive walking tours, bespoke historical experiences, and event hosting that bring the city's rich past to life for visitors.
Joe's journey began decades ago with a simple curiosity about the laneways, landmarks, and legends of his native city. His tours are not just engaging and informative; they are layered with wit, accuracy, and detail.
Before founding DTTA, Joe built a distinguished career in the ICT sector, working as an Account Director and Global Consultant Project Manager with both multinational and national corporate clients. He brings a genuine passion for connecting with people and sharing knowledge to every experience he delivers.
DTTA crafts authentic, historically themed experiences that transport you from the city’s earliest beginnings, through each defining chapter of its past, and right into the heartbeat of its present.
With custom-designed tours and events for small, large, and corporate groups. DTTA offers a personal and professional touch that ensures your time in Dublin is as enriching as it is unforgettable.
Private Grafton Street & Georgian Dublin Tour
Begin amid the lively atmosphere of Grafton Street, Dublin’s premier shopping boulevard, before wandering into the timeless elegance of the Georgian Quarter.
This privately guided tour invites you to discover the stories, scandals, and legends woven into the city’s grand townhouses, secluded garden squares, and storied literary addresses.
Experience the architectural beauty and social history of 18th-century Dublin, and explore the influential world that helped shape modern Ireland and all at a relaxed and refined pace.
Tailors Guild Hall
Step off the tourist trail and discover Dublin as most visitors never see it. This is not just a walk through Dublin, it is a journey into the city’s vibrant soul, its hidden courtyards, forgotten laneways, and stories that live between the lines of history.
Arbour Hill Dublin
DTTA specialises in authentic, historically themed experiences, from Georgian-era walking tours to custom-designed events for corporate groups.
Whether you are a curious visitor or a company seeking a memorable team-building experience, step through time and explore the history, heritage, stories, scandals, and secrets that have shaped Ireland’s capital.
As part of the fantastic Heritage Week activities, I visited this hidden treasure in Dún Laoghaire.
This jewel of Irish heritage was created by Sister Concepta Lynch, a Dominican nun whose devotion and artistry spanned 16 years (1920–1936). Inspired by the Book of Kells and the Celtic Revival movement, she patiently adorned every surface with hand-painted patterns, weaving together ancient Irish tradition and deep Christian symbolism.
Behind its modest exterior lies a sanctuary of astonishing beauty, one of Ireland’s most breathtaking artistic treasures.
Amazing!

"We had Joe take my wife and I on a walking private tour of the historic section of Dublin, Trinity, St Patrick's, and several other things he knew about and we would not have known to ask about. It was truly enlightening and well planned. We would have missed learning about many things without his guidance.
Joe was very knowledgeable and fun. Unconditionally recommended "
