Back Lane Dublin
Dublin Through the Ages Tours (DTTA) was born from a lifelong passion for history, storytelling, and the vibrant soul of Dublin itself.
Founded by a local Dubliner, Joe Cooke, a registered tour guide, DTTA offers immersive walking tours, bespoke historical experiences, and event hosting that bring the city's rich past to life for visitors and locals alike.
Joe's journey began decades ago with a simple curiosity about the laneways, landmarks, and legends of his native city. His tours are not just engaging and informative; they are layered with wit, accuracy, and detail.
Prior to launching DTTA Joe had a long and varied career within the ICT sector, as an Account Director and Global Consultant Project Manager to large Multinational and National Corporate clients. He has a passion for meeting people and sharing knowledge.
DTTA crafts authentic, historically themed experiences that transport you from the city’s earliest beginnings, through each defining chapter of its past, and right into the heartbeat of its present.
With custom-designed tours and events for small, large, and corporate groups. DTTA offers a personal and professional touch that ensures your time in Dublin is as enriching as it is unforgettable.

Don’t miss out on this immersive and entertaining walking experience!
I thoroughly enjoyed leading six walking tours over the duration of the Baggotonia festival. It was fantastic to see such large groups of visitors, local residents, and members of the business community coming together to explore the history, culture, and creative heritage of this unique area.
A big word of thanks to the Baggotonia Festival Committee and volunteers whose hard work and commitment made this Festival a memorable and special occasion.
Also a big thank you to the partner hotels and businesses who sponsored or supported the event.
Onwards and upwards for 2026!

DTTA specialises in authentic, historically themed experiences, from Georgian-era walking tours to custom-designed events for corporate groups.
Whether you are a curious visitor or a company seeking a memorable team-building experience, step through time and explore the history, heritage, stories, scandals, and secrets that have shaped Ireland’s capital.
As part of the fantastic Heritage Week activities, I visited this hidden treasure in Dún Laoghaire.
This jewel of Irish heritage was created by Sister Concepta Lynch, a Dominican nun whose devotion and artistry spanned 16 years (1920–1936). Inspired by the Book of Kells and the Celtic Revival movement, she patiently adorned every surface with hand-painted patterns, weaving together ancient Irish tradition and deep Christian symbolism.
Behind its modest exterior lies a sanctuary of astonishing beauty, one of Ireland’s most breathtaking artistic treasures.
Amazing!
After our festive Christmas Walk through Phoenix Park, the group enjoyed a well-earned rest at Farmleigh, soaking up the warm holiday atmosphere and brimming with Christmas spirit.
